About Kühtai:

High above the Ötztal valley road to Sölden and Obergurgl and only 35 minutes from Innsbruck and its airport, is the cosiest ski-in, ski-out resort of all.

kuhtai-hunting-pic

For centuries, Kühtai was the preferred hunting estate of the Habsburgs and until recently Christian Count Stolberg (great-grandson of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth of Austria) owned the neighbouring Jagdschloss Hotel with its baroque chapel, a famous destination for summer hikers.

Kühtai is situated in unforgettable scenery in a huge snow bowl with lots of snow and a link to the pistes of Hochoetz and Oetz.

This snow sure resort makes skiing possible as late as May and because of its long season it’s a high altitude training camp for many race teams.

It is well suited to families, and intermediate skiers and lift queues are rare.

For the more adventurous, this is also a freerider’s paradise for skiers and boarders with extensive back country terrain.

Kühtai boasts over 88km of pisted skiing and is linked via a free 5-minute bus ride to the Hochoetz ski area with growth plans for more lifts and skiing area in the future.

Here is a short video about the resort and you can see almost all the skiing is above the treeline.
